about

you hate 'em, I hate 'em. Here's a song from their point of view LYRIC TRANSCRIPTION REVISED THANKS TO THOMAS KIPP!

lyrics

I was born right here, in Middletown, America
so were my mom and dad in ’Sixty-two
my parents’ parents still live here in our neighborhood
and all of my friends do too.
I used to love Little League and playing with my Legos
Cheryl Tiegs, a bit too old for my wall
joie de vivre came from toastin' up some Eggos
and I’d never heard of Anthony Michael Hall!

[Chorus]

Bring me a PBR
forget the gin tonics
the only things I like
make me look ironic
my girl wears Vans
she won't touch no Blahniks
my closet's full of thrift store swag
I’m just another…
yeah, I’m just another hipster douche bag!

There was a fateful day at my liberal arts college
when a snide remark turned me to a twit
to my dismay worthless, obscure, stupid knowledge
became a drug that I could not quit
I wore shirts with quotes from movies never heard of
slapped a pair of skinny jeans on my size one frame
grew out my beard and waxed up my new bro-’stache
the path to hipness knows no shame.

Bring me a PBR
forget the gin tonics
everything I like
makes me look ironic
my girl wears Vans
she won't touch no Blahniks
my closet's full of thrift store swag
I’m just another…just another hipster douche bag!

[Bridge]

I have no skills the world can use
nothing's sadder than a hipster with the blues
except for a Japanese Goth kid crying

yeah, a Japanese Goth kid crying.

I’m a style plate from a 1980s movie
I wear big specs that have no working lens
I represent myself to appear much more important
but on Facebook are my only friends
I wear a white Keffiyeh, working on my screenplay
at the Starbucks where all the other writers lurk
I munch a gluten-free vegan quesadilla
which fuels my constant caustic smirk.

Bring me a PBR
forget the gin tonics
everything I like
makes me look ironic
my girl wears Vans
she won't touch no Blahniks
my closet's full of thrift store swag
I’m just another…just another hipster douche bag!
